About The Australian LightWing SPEED Range
For a quarter of a century, THE HUGHES GROUP of Companies has been producing the Australian LightWing, range of 2 and 4 seat light aircraft for the Australian and world aviation market. With one hundred and seventy-five aircraft produced since 1985, our aircraft are owned by some of Australia's smartest property owners, some of the best flying schools and also by private aviation enthusiasts. They have been used in sports and recreational flying schools to safely train hundreds of new pilots and our aircraft are used by all pilots for the sheer fun of recreational flying. We now present our first low wing LSA approved aircraft- The SP-2000.

Australian LightWing Aircraft Design Safety ~
Flight handling is by far the most important aspect of a safe aircraft and its here that all our aircraft including the new SP-2000, excel. From the docile 45 kts full flap stall to a comfortable 115 kt cruise, the SP-2000 offers no surprises when it comes to the use of the controls. High-bank turns, power on stalls, engine off landings, you name it, the SP-2000 meets the requirements of allowing the pilot to maintain full control over the aircraft at all times.
In a flying school environment, your aircraft is not only your office but your classroom and recreational center. When you send a student solo, you need to be comfortable that he or she has been provided with an aircraft that provides the maximum in safety.
Sure, sitting under a glass bubble type canopy can offer a great view
of the sky but when push comes to shove and what was looking like a good
landing turns into catastrophe of errors and you end up
upside down, nothing will protect you and your co-pilot like a fully
triangulated welded steel cage and that’s exactly what you have in the SP-2000 airframe.
Don’t you owe your student, wife or flying companion… this level of safety
and protection ?
Over the past twenty years in the Australian Aviation industry, we have proven beyond doubt that our high-tensile aluminium framed wings and welded steel fuselage frame offers the best possible protection to our pilots and passengers. Our high wing aircraft are characterized by large strut braced, aluminum framed wings and an ultra rugged space frame fuselage whilst our new low wing utilizes the more efficient cantilevered wing with a corresponding increase in flying efficiency. Both high and low wing aircraft feature the welded steel fuselage that has kept our owners safe and sound since 1985
The SPEED Range has been designed to compete head to head with imported two and four seat aircraft, the difference being that the SPEED Range is completely Australian made, with Australian backup, service, repair and spare parts.
The ALW SPEED is available in a range of configurations, from the lightweight RAAus registerable SP-2000S to the two or four seat SP-4000 registered VH or VH Experimental.
Buy
Australian.
Prior to purchasing some other make of aircraft, say, an import, ...do youreslf a favour and ask the sales agent what the delivery time might be on a major component like a wing. At Australian LightWing, we keep wings (and most major and minor components) on the shelf so delivery is normally a few days, Please make the comparison !
I have heard of cases where imported aircraft have been out of service for months wating for parts to come from a factory in Eastern Europe, meanwhile, you are left paying thousands of dollars a month in lease repayments, we are Australian with Australian backup, this also can means lower insurance premiums because we are quickly able to asses and repair your aircraft after an accident, well thats what we have been doing for the past 25 years anyway.
Syndication
The economy is down the gurgler and 2009/10 are going to be tough years but that doesn't mean that you have to miss out on what you love doing. And if you're reading this, chances are, like us, you love flying, so why not share your ownership of a new SP-2000 with one, two or 3 like minded pilots, form a syndicate and go flying.
So, what's a syndicate?.... In a nutshell,
A group syndicate means the SP-2000 aircraft is owned by a group of two or more pilots.
There are as many ways of achieving this as colours in the rainbow but in general, lets say, your aircraft is owned by three pilots. This means that three people have use of the aircraft. The purchase price of the aircraft is accordingly reduced to one third, likewise the costs of insurance, hangerage and maintenance.
Introducing your new aircraft - The SP 2000.

If you choose to finance the aircraft and lets say you have 3 in your syndicate and you borrow half the purchase price then you could be flying a quality Australian made SP-2000 for a cash outlay of zero in the first year (assuming you have a tax bill of about $30,000)
How ?, well, assume you borrow half of one third of the aircraft price of about $45,000. (half) = $22,500. In the 09/10 tax year, you can now claim 50% back so you get $22,500 back from the ATO, now you may be able to also claim about 20% depreciation in the first year so you can also claim a further $5,000. You are now $5,000 infront and you can spend this on insurance or put it into the kitty to purchase another SP-2000. If you are also able to claim back the GST, you will gat back a further tax refund of 10% of the purchase price or $14,000 divided by the number in the syndicate = about $4,700 all in the first year.
You will have to have a commercial application for the aircraft to satisfy the ATO and you will also have to consult your accountant but assuming for example, that your aircraft is placed on-line at your local flying school and flies about 20 hours per month (5 hours per week will leave plenty of time for the owners to fly) which would be normal, then your aircraft will earn the syndicate about $2,000 per month ($24,000 p/a) with a hire rate of $100 per hour. This is enough to cover most of your on-going lease repayments.
Who wouldnt pay this to fly a brilliant, sophisticated, super safe, Australian Made aircraft ?
If this is starting to sound like you are going to have your sports aviation cake and also be able to eat it, well, you may just be correct, this applies only in Australia, in all other countries, consult your local tax agent.
We can assist with finance through the Bank Of Qld so give us a call on 0266 868658 and lets get the ball rolling.
Make Sense? Why not join the growing number of smart pilots that
Syndicate and aviate !
It all started with number one, our first Australian LightWing, built in 1984, this fine 2 seat aircraft has been owned by a partnership of 2 owners for the past few years. This aircraft has changed hands but she (we call her the "Babe") has been appreciating in value ever since she was first sold a few years ago. Go to the gallery section to view pictures of the "Babe".
