Dear fellow sports aviators,

If you operate a flying school and you are considering the purchase of a new 2 seat  trainer, look no further, the SP-2000-S is the perfect aircraft for the sports and recreational flying school. If you operate either a GA or   RAAus flying school, contact us and ask Howie or Nick about our flying school packages. We have some great deals available now for delivery in 2008.

We have divided the SPEED range into 2 distinct groups,  firstly, aircraft that can be used for flight training and private use and secondly, experimental aircraft that can be used for private use only.

The SP-2000-S  trainer  is available with a Special certificate of airworthiness (that's where the "S" comes from) making it optionally able to carry VH- registration. The SP-2000-S has some specific options and a discounted price tag but only for a limited period.

For training aircraft, the concept we have evolved is to "keep things simple"   talk to Howie or Nick on 02 66 868 658  ( 612  66 868658 outside Australia ) for details or after hours Howies mobile can be available, call  0433 580047.

Our Rotary  100hp 1 cyl and 2 cyl  130 and 180 hp engines are getting closer, watch this space for their arrival.

The SPEED project began in earnest about 24 months ago, at that time we actually had a prototype flying, this first aircraft made its maiden flight to Natfly Narromine in 2005. We  thought that just because we had a prototype, we would quickly move to producing production aircraft, WRONG,!!   it took about 12 months longer than expected to begin manufacturing, why ? I hear you ask, well take just one of dozens of  examples, take the doors.

The doors on the SPEED represent a piece of my life (and Terrys and Alex ) but hey!,  I started them.

As you can see from the photos of the SPEED, they are gull wing type with sophisticated locks, a gas strut for opening and also safety catch releases in the roof incase of an extreme emergency evacuation but its how they fit that represented the challenge. Initially, the prototype had doors that where ok but where not good enough for production. To get that extra  accuracy took us  countless hours (like 3 months of work) of head scratching, overall cost ? quite a lot !. The doors are one of dozens of items  that required a total re-think on the way we do things. When all this gets me down, I  usually go for a fly or I just  log on to a site www.avtechgroup.com

Click on this link and you will see the SPEED project taken up a couple of notches (and add a zero and double the figure for the price tag), Avtech group are producing a 2 engine jet from scratch and as you will see form the web page, its pretty cute !   I cant imagine the head scratching that would go into an aircraft that's going to be doing close to Mac1 compared to my companies aircraft cruising at 0.2 Mac or 160 kts ! Its easy to get onto the mail list for the Javelin (thats the 2 seat jet), in my opinion, its a good newsletter.

If you think a couple of  $mill is too much for a personal jet, then put a syndicate together, but better still,  if you want to be part of a SPEED syndicate, click here or  give us a call.

The SPEED has been a demanding project both in terms of  design skill, patience, financing and all the other attributes that go to make up a successful aviation project, my thanks to my staff for their input throughout this project. My condolences to (the families)  of all those Aussies whose projects or indeed the pilots who didn't make it including Scott Winton, Sanda Venstra, Charles Legetti, Gordon Benson and many others. I am lucky, indeed privileged to be surrounded by such talented guys and galls.

Shown below,  number 4  going to George Jennings form the ACT.

COMPETITION!.....................

There is something missing from the aircraft shown below, if you can tell me what it is and you are the first to enter, we will send you a LightWing aviators pack containing a LightWing cap, carry bag, a great little LCD torch and a special mystery gift.  The winner will be advised by email end November 2007 The owner is the only person that is not permitted to enter as he will receive the aviators pack with the aircraft.

Email the answer to al@spot.com.au

This is actually number 3 off the production line but the 4th aircraft we have produced including the prototype.

We welcome export enquiries.

Based on all said above, you may well ask why we are embarking on the design and development of a 6 seater  (scroll down a little ) that will  cruise at about .4 Mac ? is it because we have perceived a real need for such an aircraft based on long term detailed world wide market research ?  or are we doing it just because we can ? or are we doing it because we are nuts ?..... Watch this space for the answer !!

Regards and soft landings........
