The Road-e that will fly.
Adventurous, we know, but, we’re an aircraft manufacturing company – how could this not be one of our goals?

The flying road-e could well be interesting providing its got a halfway usable range. Whether or not thats achievable with batteries is another question. An associate has been looking at the vastly more expensive Terrafugia however I believe its off the agenda now due to the abysmally poor performance. What i see as a major stumbling block with a flying car is the difficulty in carrying around sufficient wing area for short take-off & landing without seriously impeding visibility. Note that all presently available STOL lift aircraft have MASSIVE wing area, & the only way I can perceive getting past that issue is a tilt motor arrangement that increases complexity & fuel consumption. Apparently Terrafugia are working on such a concept however based on the $300,000 or whatever it is for their current horribly under-performing flying car, one can expect the tilt motor version to be two to three times the price. Note also the proposed tilt-motor Terrfugia has a very small wing area which when combined with limited power would almost certainly mean it would be a very dangerous thing for all but extremely experienced pilots.
